Digital Safety for Youth Part 1

Digital Safety for Youth: What Parents Should Be Talking About

Stranger danger is nothing new – but online gaming and social media have brought strangers into the home in the guise of peers and friends. With platforms changing constantly and new apps appearing every day, how can adults keep their kids safe from online exploitation? This interactive, 60-minute workshop designed for parents and caregivers of teens and tweens provides a foundation for talking with youth about online safety, including online stranger danger, cyberbullying, artificial intelligence, and more. This will be a safe space for adult participants to practice having the often-uncomfortable conversations that can make all the difference in the life of a child who has been targeted for exploitation.

Digital Safety for Seniors (workshop)

Workshop by Linda Ciano of Project SAGE. With cybercrime and digital abuse on the rise, it’s important for everyone to be aware of the dangers and – even more important – be ready with a plan for when something goes wrong. In this interactive, 90-minute workshop tailored specifically for adults age 55+, we begin by outlining some of the threats people face in today’s digital world. We then examine how adults can assemble a team of trusted relatives, friends, and professionals and put together a plan of action for responding to whatever may come their way, from phishing scams to cyber harassment.

Registration is required.

DVAM Film and talkback: Another Body

A discussion and Q&A will follow the film, with Project Sage's Kristen van Ginhoven, Executive Director; Linda Ciano, Director of Community Engagement; and Virginia Gold, Director of Client Services.

Directors: Sophie Compton, Reuben Hamlyn
Writers: Sophie Compton, Reuben Hamlyn, Isabel Freeman

Another Body follows a college student's search for justice after she discovers deepfake pornography of herself circulating online. We live in a time when videos or images created by artificial intelligence are indistinguishable from the real thing. This riveting documentary highlights a serious problem with AI that can, in some cases, ruin lives. The subject in this case embarks on a harrowing journey into the dark world of deepfake technology to find answers, justice, and to reclaim her true identity.
