PROJECT SAGE IS HIRING

Community Engagement Associate

Location: Lakeville, CT | Full-Time, Non-Exempt (37.5 hours/week, on-site)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Who We Are

Project SAGE is a domestic violence prevention education agency in northwest Connecticut. Our mission is to create social change by challenging attitudes and beliefs about power, control, and gender norms while advocating for victims and survivors. We envision a world where everyone can be themselves, have healthy relationships, and live free from interpersonal relationship violence.

We are a compassionate, committed team working toward a safer, more just future.

At Project SAGE, every role contributes to building healthy relationships—both internally and externally in our community. As a small team, all staff members are expected to contribute to the overall functioning and wellbeing of the agency. Our core principles are cooperation and mutual respect, collaboration and communication, and strength in diversity.

Who You Are

As the Community Engagement Associate, you are passionate about connecting with people and creating meaningful change in your community. You are energized by outreach, relationship-building, and engaging diverse audiences in conversations that matter.

You are someone who enjoys being out in the community—whether tabling at events, building partnerships with local organizations, or supporting awareness campaigns. At the same time, you are organized and reliable behind the scenes, helping coordinate volunteers, track engagement efforts, and ensure programs run smoothly.

You bring a collaborative spirit, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn. You are thoughtful in your approach to sensitive topics and are committed to fostering environments rooted in respect, inclusion, and empowerment.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, you will support Project SAGE’s outreach, volunteer program, and prevention education efforts.

  • Community Outreach (40–45%)
You will actively engage the community in raising awareness about domestic violence and promoting healthy relationships. This includes representing Project SAGE at community events, coordinating outreach activities such as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, and supporting partnerships with local leaders, organizations, and businesses. You will also assist with outreach efforts connected to Trade Secrets and the Main Street Partners Program.

  • Volunteer Program Support (40–45%)
You will help sustain a strong, engaged volunteer program by supporting recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing communication. You will assist with scheduling volunteers, organizing trainings and meetings, tracking hours, maintaining records, and ensuring volunteers feel appreciated and connected to the mission. Your work will help create a positive and meaningful volunteer experience.

  • Prevention Education (5–10%)
You will support youth-focused prevention education by assisting with and occasionally delivering engaging, age-appropriate programming on healthy relationships and violence prevention in schools, daycares, and community settings. You will also help maintain relationships with youth-serving organizations.

  • Agency Collaboration (5–10%)
As part of a small, collaborative team, you will contribute to agency-wide efforts by participating in meetings, events, and trainings. You may provide occasional office or hotline coverage, support client service coordination as needed, and assist with events such as the Annual Vigil and Trade Secrets. You will also help ensure compliance with agency standards, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to a supportive workplace culture.
